Finding live jazz

First place to look is obviously in the listings of the local weekly paper for the area.

If you search for gigs then one site will not give you the whole lot. Look at the BBC site first and then try entering “jazz gigs” in Google UK for the area you want and see what you get. Go to your local government .org site and enter tourist offices.

In London the Jazz Café in Camden and Ronnie Scotts in Soho always have something on – late night, too…

For general information about jazz bands and venues there is only one place to go.
Jazz Services Ltd: This is the most comprehensive UK database of current jazz contacts; over 7,000 contacts, including musicians, bands, promoters, venues, education contacts, media contacts, marketing contacts, etc. Their subsidiary, Jazz Newspapers, publishes the largest circulation jazz magazine in the UK, Jazz UK. Their Web site not only provides comprehensive information on jazz, but also has links to over 1,700 jazz sites internationally.

There are some very good sites in London and others around the country for listing gigs.

You should remember jazz festivals, too.  The Jazz services site is good for them. See links
